Infiniti on Thursday released a first look at the JX seven-passenger crossover it plans to build at the Nissan assembly plant in Smyrna, Tenn. A concept of the JX will be shown publicly during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August, and the production version is scheduled to debut at the Los Angeles auto show in November. The Infiniti JX is set to go on sale in spring 2012 as a 2013 model.

This is the Mercedes GLA, essentially Merc’s Golf rival – the A-class – with its wellies on. The compact crossover is the baby of the Mercedes SUV family, and gives Stuttgart an answer to cars such as the Range Rover Evoque and Audi Q3. The GLA comes with a selection of four-cylinder petrol and diesel models; we’re testing the entry-level 200 CDI in top-spec AMG Line trim, yours for £28,030.
U.S. regulators are investigating 10 recent cases in which owners of recalled Toyota vehicles say they brought their cars in for repair and yet still experienced unintended acceleration. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has started contacting consumers about these complaints “to make sure Toyota is doing everything possible to make its vehicles safe,” agency chief David Strickland said in an e-mailed statement.
